Your Excellencies and distinguished guests,
Here today I would like to once again thank our Polish friends for their unchangeable support and resolute assistance in bringing Ukraine closer to the EU.
Poland has become for us a synonym of European integration, a synonym of the EU, a synonym of success and democratic reforms.
As we look into the past several years of our relations with the European Union one can see that it was a real battle not only in Brussels but first of all in our capitals (Kyiv, Tbilisi or Kishinev), in our minds, the battle between the soviet past mentality and the modern democratic values.
And Majdan in Kyiv proved the maturity of our civil society, showed the desire of the Ukrainian people to live in a modern, prosperous and European Ukraine.
The signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is the main instrument to re-establish Ukraine’s way to Europe and to hold all the reforms on a very stable and prospective basis.
Over the last months Ukraine paid the highest possible price to make its European dreams come true.
After ‘the Revolution of Dignity’ that let Ukraine resume its movement towards Europe, our country has faced enormous challenges on the way towards democracy, rule of law and reforms. And those challenges are caused by Russia’s brutal aggression in the Crimea and its annexation as well as the ongoing Russia’s attempts to destabilize situation in the Eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian people appreciate very much an essential support the international community granted so openly during the whole period of ‘Maidan’ and after its victory.
We hope that the Western world, the European Union will continue to stand firm in solidarity with Ukraine to counter Russia’s aggression.
We are sure that peace and stability in our country will be achieved as well as reforms will be successfully implemented.
Ladies and Gentlemen
We were all witnesses of the determination the Ukrainian nation fought with for its European future and values.
For us the Association Agreement is not just political and economic document. It is a symbol of faith and unbreakable will. It is a tribute to people who gave their lives to make this moment happen.
So let's join our efforts to build a common prosperous European Home.
